Beads

Dependency-aware issue tracker that gives coding agents lasting memory

What it is

Beads (the bd command) is a command-line issue tracker built on the Dolt versioned SQL database, designed so AI coding agents can plan and track work as a graph of linked tasks instead of markdown TODO lists. Agents create issues, link blockers, claim ready work, and store project facts that get re-injected into their context later, while old closed tasks are summarized to save tokens. Developers running Claude Code, Codex, Cursor and similar agents on long multi-step projects use it to keep work coordinated across sessions, branches, machines, and multiple agents, with hash-based IDs avoiding merge conflicts.
