What it is
croc transfers files and folders between two machines using a short code phrase, with end-to-end encryption based on PAKE. It tries a direct peer-to-peer connection and falls back to a relay, so neither side needs port forwarding or a local server. Transfers can resume after interruption, go through a proxy such as Tor, and work across Windows, macOS, Linux, and a compatible browser version. People who move files between their own machines or to a colleague use it as a quick terminal command instead of uploading to a cloud service.
