What it is

This is the open-source codebase, known as Code - OSS, behind Microsoft's Visual Studio Code editor. It offers syntax highlighting, code navigation and completion, an integrated debugger and terminal, built-in Git support, and an extension API that thousands of add-ons build on. Developers working in almost any language use it as their daily editor on Windows, macOS, and Linux, and others fork the source to build their own editors.
