Clinical entity extraction and PII de-identification on local hardware
What it is
OpenMed is a Python SDK, with Swift, Android and browser runtimes, for pulling diseases, drugs and other clinical entities out of medical text and redacting personal identifiers from it. It draws on a catalog of over 2,000 medical NER and privacy models and supports PII detection in 35 languages, running on CPU, CUDA, Apple MLX, ONNX Runtime Mobile or Transformers.js. Healthcare developers and data teams use it to de-identify clinical notes and structure them without sending records to an outside service. It also ships an MCP server, a CLI and agent skills.
