What it is
A Rust reimplementation of the pre-commit framework that runs formatters, linters, secret scanners and other checks before commits, on demand, or in CI. It reads existing pre-commit configurations and hooks unchanged, installs the toolchains hooks need (Python via uv, Node.js, Go, Rust, Ruby, Bun) and shares them between hooks. Developers and maintainers of larger repositories adopt it to cut hook run time and disk use, with workspace mode handling monorepos.
