What it is

ASP.NET Core is the web framework that runs on .NET, covering MVC, Razor Pages, Blazor, minimal APIs, SignalR real-time messaging, and the Kestrel web server. Apps built with it run on Windows, macOS, and Linux, whether hosted in the cloud, behind IIS, or on-premises. C# developers use it to build websites, HTTP and gRPC services, and backends for mobile and IoT apps.
