What it is

Deno runs JavaScript, TypeScript, and WebAssembly outside the browser, built on V8, Rust, and Tokio. Scripts get no file, network, or environment access unless granted through explicit flags, and TypeScript runs without a separate compile step. It ships as a single binary with a built-in formatter, linter, test runner, and HTTP server API. Developers use it to write web servers, command-line scripts, and backend services as a Node.js replacement.
