What it is

Frigate records IP camera streams and runs object detection on your own hardware, using cheap motion detection to decide where to look and optional GPUs or AI accelerators like Google Coral to run models. It keeps recordings based on what was detected, supports continuous recording, restreams over RTSP, and offers low-latency live view in the browser. Home Assistant users wire it into automations through MQTT and a dedicated integration, keeping camera footage off third-party clouds.
