Universal Commerce Protocol
Open protocol specification for agent-driven checkout and commerce
What it is
A specification, JSON schemas, and documentation for a shared protocol that lets AI agents, apps, merchants, and payment providers transact without one-off integrations. It defines capabilities such as checkout, identity linking via OAuth 2.0, order lifecycle webhooks, and payment token exchange, plus extensions like discounts and fulfillment. Merchants publish a profile of supported capabilities that platforms discover, and the protocol can run over REST, MCP, or A2A. Developers building shopping agents or exposing a store to them use it as the reference for their integrations.
