OpenCut
Free video editor for browser, desktop, and mobile, now being rebuilt
What it is
OpenCut is an open-source video editor that runs in the browser and is being rewritten around a Rust core so one codebase can serve web, desktop, and mobile. The rewrite plans an editor API, third-party plugins, an in-editor scripting tab, a headless mode for batch rendering, and an MCP server so AI agents can drive edits. Creators who want a no-cost alternative to hosted short-video editors can use the classic version today while the new one takes shape.
